That's a bold claim, but it's more likely that some skins and modules or 
maybe your level of information didn't move along with the advance of 
WeeWX. In my experience WeeWX since 5.0 is easier to install and use than 
ever before. However, discontinued extensions may not work anymore, in some 
cases. Maybe, instead of moving backward, you can address particular issues 
you have with your current installation and we can try to fix them, 
resulting in an up-to-date installation, which will make future maintenance 
much easier.

Anyway, just telling us, your installation runs on a debian OS, is not 
enough information to answer your question.
