Hello everyone. I have one of those oldish fine offset stations (WH1080) that I am trying to install somewhere remote. The set up that I have is a RPi 3B with a pijuice zero ups hat, a 6000 mAh battery to supply power and a 5V solar panel connected to the hat to top up the charge during daylight. Access to the internet is provided from a 4G usb dongle with a sim card inside connected to the pi USB port.
The idea is simple: to save as much power as possible (the RPi 3B is quite the power consumer) the pijuice will trigger a start up 3 times per hour (at 01, 21 and 41 min past the hour), will power the pi for 3 min and will shut it down. During the time the RPi is up, weewx must read the records from the console and will write them in the database. The archive interval in weewx.conf is 10 min. Although at the moment I have identify a pattern where weewx will request the data to the console at 03, 23 and 43 min past the hour, last week it was making the requests at 1 min past the hour. Is this something that can be modified, or does it make the requests randomly? I have not found anything in the manual to try and retrieve the records from the console on demand of the user (this will be the ideal solution), so if at least I know the minutes weewx makes these retrievals I can program the UPS to boot the pi right before.
