After some recent collaboration with Ken True, the author of the Saratoga
Weather Website templates
<https://saratoga-weather.org/wxtemplates/index.php>, I am pleased to
announce the Saratoga templates now include direct support for WeeWX
through use of the WeeWX-Saratoga extension
<https://github.com/gjr80/weewx-saratoga> and the WEEWX-plugin. You can see
WeeWX driven, working versions of the USA base templates here
<https://saratoga-weather.org/weewx/wxindex.php> and the World base
templates here <https://weather.therodericks.id.au/saratoga/wxindex.php>.

This is a great step forward for those users that already use the Saratoga
templates with WeeWX-WD or wish to use them in the future. No longer will
your site have a split WeeWX/WeatherDisplay personality. By using the
WeeWX-Saratoga extension and the WEEWX-plugin users now have out of the box
support for:

- near realtime (loop based) updates of the Saratoga dashboard
- display of native WeeWX plots
- trouble free use of the template updates tool
- trouble free use of the built-in template maintenance tools
- the alternative dashboard
<https://saratoga-weather.org/scripts-legacy.php#scott>

The WeeWX-Saratoga extension can be obtained from WeeWX-Saratoga extension
releases page <https://github.com/gjr80/weewx-saratoga/releases> and the
WeeWX-plugin is available for download from the Saratoga templates install
page <https://saratoga-weather.org/wxtemplates/install.php>.

Migrating from a WeeWX-WD/Saratoga template setup should be straight
forward. As far as WeeWX is concerned this involves replacing WeeWX-WD with
the WeeWX-Saratoga extension; as far as the Saratoga templates are
concerned the WeeWX-plugin needs to be installed and the updates tool
<http://- use of the built-in template maintenance tools> used to update
the Saratoga templates to the current release. New installations and
migration from WeeWX-WD is covered in more detail in the WeeWX-Saratoga
extension readme
<https://github.com/gjr80/weewx-saratoga/blob/main/readme.md#weewx-saratoga>
and the Saratoga templates WeeWX software setup
<https://saratoga-weather.org/wxtemplates/setup-WeeWX.php> and WEEWX-plugin
config <https://saratoga-weather.org/wxtemplates/Settings-config-WeeWX.php>
pages.

The WeeWX-Saratoga extension wiki will be used to cover details on the use
and customization of the WeeWX-Saratoga extension. It is currently a work
in progress only covering installation /uninstallation and migration from
WeeWX-WD. In coming days it will include more information on customization
of the extension.

The WeeWX-Saratoga extension is based upon much of the WeeWX-WD code (which
was first written almost 10 years ago) but includes a lot of
improvements/simplifications made possible through improvements to WeeWX
(eg a far more extensive family of tags and the XTypes system). For this
reason the WeeWX-Saratoga extension requires WeeWX v4.5.0 or later and
operates under python2 or python3. Pyephem is also required. Given the
release of the WeeWX-Saratoga extension I will no longer be developing
WeeWX-WD and I will be removing reference to it from the WeeWX wiki.
