Well this turned into a bit of a nightmare. After purchasing a bigger sd card and copying the complete original card over i couldn't get the Pi to boot. No problems I thought, I'll just go back to the original again ....but no, that doesn't want to boot either!
So .....complete rebuild of the system later (thank goodness I backed up 99% of the files I needed - and now I know a few more I need to backup as well!) I did manage to mount the original sd card on my Mac and recover some of the other files that I needed as well, so all was not lost. The upshot is I'm now on Weewx 4.4.0 with a nice big sd card.
