Patrick,

If you are struggling to get something working with weeWX then you are best 
advised to stick with SQLite. It is simple to use and easy to manage and 
just works. Setting up MySQL just adds more complexity, something you 
generally don't want if you are debugging other issues. In most cases 
unless you have a specific reason you are best served sticking with SQLite. 
The recommended approach is to get a stable functioning weeWX install and 
then migrate to MySQL if you wish to go down that path. That being said if 
you have installed MySQL /MariaDB and have it working without error then 
leave it be.
