Hi,

When you tried sudo exactly what command did you use? The correct placement 
of sudo would be:

$  echo "UPDATE archive SET windGust=NULL  WHERE (windGust  > 100);" | sudo 
sqlite3 /var/lib/weewx/tmp/weewxback.sdb
