I'll second that.  I have a VP2 with the solar radiation sensor, and
since getting the davis computer interface (serial), it has just worked
since about new year's with no trouble.

Reading the list, I see a bit of trouble with some kinds of hardware,
but with the Davis VP2, the only complaint is that its expensive.  That
means not a lot of trouble with talking to weewx, or with failing.

Also, the official Davis computer interface for the VP2, while costing
$110ish (in the US), which is sort of offensive since a console should
come with that these days, at least is capable of recording data every 5
mimutes all by itself, for a long time, and weewx will catch up when you
restart it, if your computer is down (power, crashed, upgrade).
