I currently have a 30 foot cable, and from the weewx logs, it seems
there are typically a few LOOP errors every day. But, I am not seeing
outright failures, just retries. I see that weewx shows ISS signal
quality; I should get around to showing serial quality as well.

That's a good point about stray RF. Looking at my logs, it is
interesting that there is frequently a failure at 0000 (local), although
I suspect that has more to do with local computer loading than the
environment. I do have a bunch of ferrites on hand, but uusally I am
trying to keep equipment from raditating and causing interference to
radios. I'll keep that in mind when I extend my cable to more like 60'.
