Possible you didn't point your station north correctly when you mounted it, 
but that's just a guess.   It's also possible that your wind really does 
come from a different direction typically due to hills, obstructions etc.   
 Up here near Seattle we have the 'Puget Sound Convergence Zone' where you 
can get winds coming from opposite directions as the wind tries to get 
around the Olympic Mountains.
