the log should tell you what is happening. most likely the registration is
failing because there is no server_url
why not use your wundergound url? then change to the station's public web
page when (if) you want to publish that one.
btw, you can set the root level server_url to your station's local web
page, and the registration url to whatever you want the public to see. for
example:
[Station]
...
station_url = http://private.lan/weewx
[StdRESTful]
[[StationRegistry]]
register_this_station = True
station_url = http://public.com/weewx
