Hi everyone, as you’ve noticed, Ramsey has done a lot towards improving WOLips lately. You may recall that we tried to get someone to do that as paid work a few years ago, and collected funding for that. Here’s the status report.
We did the funding call in late 2020 here in this mailing list. We (Selbstdenker AG, Germany) volunteered to do the coordination work. We received offers that amount to about 7000 EUR, with varying degrees of commitment. We then issued invoices to actually collect about 5500 EUR of that, and eventually received 3850 EUR of actual money. (Some invoices were never paid.) We then published the announcement searching for a developer in various places, and in early 2021 found one based in Russia. We made a contract, exchanged a few emails, and then never heard anything again from him. So, no work delivered, no payment issued. We searched again, found another developer in late 2021, based in Germany this time. Made another contract, and again, same story. We didn’t receive any more offerings after that, but also didn’t put a lot of work into looking for someone else beyond 2022 as we got a bit frustrated with the whole thing. Then Ramsey contacted me in September 2024 about it, mentioning that he was interested and available for contract work. Again, we made a contract, but Ramsey soon delivered, as you all saw. We eventually agreed that the work done by him warrants paying out the funds we collected this far, which is also what I heard from some of you privately. We have received his invoice amounting to 3800 EUR and are paying that out now. In the meantime, Ramsey’s activity prompted a few of you to contact me privately and signal that they’d like to increase the funds. So, if anyone wants to contribute more, please send me an email specifying: - how much, - the address to send the invoice to, - and, optionally, if you want something specific done with that and we will send you an invoice, collect the money and organize it.
