Well, the new one, discoveryd, is prone to malfunction. I also sometimes get that "Safari could not find the server". A retry usually helps. The commandline tools like ping or nslookup have their own DNS lookup code statically linked in. So these do not use discoveryd. This is the IP of learningthewonders.com : 213.189.151.242 Unfortunately you cannot use the raw IP address in Safari as learningthewonders.com is a virtal host. You would end up on the default page of my company.
