The good news is that it seems that Apple is really on-top of making bug fixes lately. Did you see the 5.4.1 release notes? Lots of specific bug fixes and their Radar numbers!

You're a bit of a pioneer out here in the Java-Client frontier. Don't get discouraged, and stake a nice big plot for yourself. :)
