Did you try?
   # in controller
   query = db.server # or more complex filter
   grid = SQLFORM.grid(query)

   # in view
   {{=grid}}

It will do pagination, searching, etc. If you are logged in, it will also 
allow create/edit/update. There is a also a SQLFORM.smartgrid.
