Generally stable is, well, more stable. But of course, trunk may include
fixes to bugs that have been found in stable. However, under normal
circumstances, bugs fixed in trunk are not usually more than a couple weeks
from making it into the next stable version. That's because we typically
have a new major release about every month, and in the first week or so,
there are several minor bug-fix releases to fix the obvious bugs. Less
obvious bugs will get found a big later, fixed in trunk, and make it into
the next release, which is no more than a few weeks away.

Right now, though, we're in a bit of an unusual situation, as we haven't
had a new release in nearly six months. That's because the next release is
2.0, and the plan has been for this to be a major release with lots of
significant features (worthy of bumping from 1.xx to 2.xx). Once we hit 2.0
(any day now), hopefully we'll get back to more frequent releases, so bug
fixes get into stable much more quickly. Note, in this particular case, the
bug was only found and fixed a couple weeks ago anyway, so sometimes you're
just going to lose some sleep. :-)
