On windows I 1) download web2py source, 2) install apache (as described in book with wsgi module -don't install certificates if you don't need admin enabled on client machine--) and my web2py app is up and running (you need to create a shortcut of course) I believe should be same thing for mac os.
this is one of the best things about web2py, its just ready for deployment on any platform. if you still have trouble setting this up (should take like 30 minutes for first time) just ask here again.
