I am (quite) sure it does not. Just putting down some ideas... What would be nice is to have a search API that is consistent whether data is local, remote or the internet. One could set the "scope" of the search (internet|remote|local). A local search could have more optional parameters since the engine is totally under control, but the basic functionality could look identical. i.e. same way to make the query and same kind of returned data...
