Probably it is not very diplomatic to post this question in Google Groups
as Android is Google's baby. However there are certainly users out there
who do not like to use Google Calendar and GMail to synchronise their
potentially confidential calendar items and contact lists. However there
are no really well developed simple to install and platform independent
alternative solutions. Horde currently seems more or less furthest along in
providing something which seems to work, using CardDav and CalDav apps on
the Android, but which imho is still way to big and complex. Although I am
very new to both Python and Web2Py, from what I've read and seen so far I
suspect it should be quite a bit simpler to program an app for a syncing
solution between Web2Py on a (Linux / Windows / Mac) PC and an Android
phone or tablet, particulary as the latter seem to use SQLite as storage
for calendar and contact details (or at least those seem to be used by some
back up solutions). And I suspect such a solution would be a smash hit with
many people wanting to direct sync, thus greatly raising the profile of
both Web2Py and Python.

Has anybody already considered or started work on such an app ?
