[web2py] purpose of "ABOUT" file in route?

I noticed in my installation of web2py the largest file (about 7MB on
my system) is a binary file in the web2py root directory named
"ABOUT".  What is the purpose of this file, and can it be removed?  My
apps seems to run OK locally without it.
