Hi Mark, The idea with symlinks might work, although it's not very elegant.
Packaging individual applications is not easy either, there is another problem I forgot to mention. Currently web2py assumes that it has write permissions for the whole web2py directories (including subdirectories). It creates various files inside the application's directory - databases, error tickets, session-related files, and so on. That would never work with a debian package, all runtime files should be created under /var/run. In short, the web2py code should be able to run from a read-only directory structure. I guess it'll take a fair amount of work to achieve this, I don't feel confident enough to do this on my own. Any volunteers? Regards, Dima.
