Thanks, all for the many suggestions. I will have to check them out and get back to you a little later -- currently fighting another fire. Sorry, I wasn't clear about jQuery or javascript -- either is OK. And yes, Mr. Freeze is right that I only want to clear onfocus it if it's value is the default.
