I have been using Dreamhost for the past two years, and I have never had a problem with them.
They just upgraded apache with passenger_wsgi, so python aps using wsgi (web2py) run fast! You get unlimited web space and unlimited bandwidth, plus shell access... it really is the most you will get out of any shared hosting. With the shell account you can install anything you want to locally, I have python 2.6, dcraw, and other programs I compiled from source and installed on my account. Also you can't beat being able to create a subdomain and it be ready to use in 5 minutes! If you do sign up for dreamhost, mind using my referall link?
