I Can't speak for MySql, only for Postgres. In our MAJOR conversion from Informix to Postgres, we simple put a place holder. Since we used pipes as delimiters, it looked something like this:
NAME|ADDRESS1||CITY|STATE|ZIP|PHONE1||AGE|BIRTHDATE| (etc...) where there was nothing for address 2 , or Phone number 2 You need to make sure all fields are accounted for in some way ...
