The issue is that you are trying to do this without reloading the page?

I think we previously discussed the LOAD() helper and the ajax() function 
<URL:http://web2py.com/books/default/chapter/29/11/jquery-and-ajax#The-ajax-function>
I don't remember why those didn't work for you., but I think that would 
have been the simplest route.
