I also meant to say for windows I always resorted to
curl<http://curl.haxx.se/latest.cgi?curl=win32-ssl-sspi>(command line
tool) to get the zip archives;  you could try other browsers
also (e.g. if I recall, Opera did not have this problem on Windows, but if
memory serves me - it seemed to depend on the file; once one browser would
fail, another time a different browser).
