I'm not sure what the issue is.

I'm seeing this post about 12 hours after it was posted (which was probably
just after my last check on my way out last night). so I can't say how long
it took to appear. From my point of view, my replies appear almost
immediately.

For those of us reading the group, it's pretty easy keep track of new
messages. When I'm in topic view (where Google Groups shows the list of
threads (topics)), the tab has a counter of unread messages displayed.
Right now, it's at 25 (for me). GG shows the topic list ordered by
activity; I generally scroll down to where the already-read messages show
up, and then work my way up the list. Very rare for me to miss a "stale"
post that way, and I'm pretty confident that gurus of the group are pretty
well on top of what's not dealt with. (Massimo probably also gets a
dashboard showing posts, threads, unanswered new threads, etc.)

There is one way a minor glitch can show up. If the poster's local time
setting is too far in the past (clock drift, perhaps, or a mis-set
calendar), the post will show up but below the point I scroll to to start
reading. The clue, though, is that the count doesn't go to 0.

If your count is showing as 99+, you should probably use the "Mark all as
read" button to start the count over, and use some other way to track how
far you've gotten in reading "back issues".

I don't think that what you are concerned about with regards to posts to
the group list is an issue for most people. And while I'm not to be
mistaken for a power user, I can sometimes anticipate what additional
information will make it easier for the power users to answer your
questions, so I'll respond with a request for those details.

I'm sorry you seem to be having a tough time with the list; I don't think
yours is a common experience, and I hope your experience gets better.
