A quick update - I tried creating a new file under controllers and that can't be opened for editing either so it has got nothing to do with file size or content, just any file in the controllers folder. Any additional help or workaround for this would be much appreciated. I have been working on this project in my spare time for almost a year now and am close to completion so it is pretty frustrating not to able to continue!
