I know chat has been beaten to death around here but IMO there hasn't been any quality implementations or answers yet. There are dozens of blogs and posts about it, most of which are solutions that no longer work or are ridiculously overcomplicated solutions with duplicated code between python and node.js. The best answer I've seen around here involved a third party hosting service.
I think I may have found something that may work but I haven't tried it yet. I was wondering if anyone else has tried to implement running gevent with anyserver.py and connecting it to a socket.io client though gevent-socketio or to sockjs through some other means. I haven't used gevent before, only tornado and I was less than impressed by the documentation and clients available. I'd like to use sockjs instead of socket.io because the consensus seem to be that socket.io is very poorly maintained but sockjs seems to have fewer options outside of a node.js server. It would be nice to get an easy to deploy real-time chat server solution for web2py that works with auth. -- --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "web2py-users" group.
