I can't step through it right now, but in step6 did you type in the name of your new page before pressing the button? You need to enter the name of the page, or "slug" before pressing Create from Slug. Maybe that is it, your page doesn't actually have a "slug". ( who came up with that name in the first place?)
Also, on the edit page screen, it looks like you cannot go back and change the slug name. Should it be that way or is it an issue? --
