Is it possible to work with NULL values via the DB admin screens? I've got a bunch of string fields that should default to NULL, but everytime I try to insert a record through the admin screens they wind up as empty strings. Worse, existing records that have NULL values get those values replaced by empty strings if you update the record via the admin screen.
