Now I understand. You should use this db.table.checkbox_field.requires=IS_IN_SET(['on'])
instead because it is not obvious to me that an unchecked checkbox should be considered empty since it implies that a choice has been made. It is possible that revision 1.55 broke IS_NOT_EMPTY for checkboxes.
