web2py chose to use Launchpad / bazaar for developers & development work & tracking;
web2py is mirrored to Google Code / SVN for the convenience of all those who already use SVN. If you just want to follow the development tree and keep your code copy up to day you can use either Google Code, or the Launchpad site (your choice).
