For now, the immediacy of help / replies on this group "approaches" IRC...
With a paste-bin, IRC can be more interactive help... I think I agree that we should use IRC - it's not a problem that people don't frequent it much yet (I think), but I would rather have just an IRC up (and hidden) with several channels, than having all sorts of programs / protocols up... Just my thoughts.
