When I read the comments from Thelma and David, I studied about it, and started to wonder if I was mistaken when I saw TAGS as the 112th most popular television comedy of all time. So, I decided to call the Comedy Center. The very knowledgeable woman I spoke with said that the rankings are based only on those visitors who stop at the computer on the way out to vote. She said she agreed that TAGS is probably on most people's Top 5 or Top 10 list - but when it comes to picking your favorite, #1 comedy, most visitors to the Center who favor shows from the 50's and 60's choose Lucy (after all. she's from the area), or "The Honeymooners", or maybe Dick van Dyke, or The Beaver.
If I recall, I guess most of the voters must be on the younger side, because I believe the top 3 choices were "Seinfeld", "Friends", and "The Office". JOE from G.I. P.S. On a positive note, there was a video about "second bananas"/"sidekicks", and basically it said that Don Knotts as Barney Fife set the gold standard for that kind of comedy role. Who can argue with that? _______________________________________________ WBMUTBB mailing list [email protected] http://www.wbmutbb.com/
