Some respectable Mayberry residents turned to crime....they pop up on Perry Mason all the time. Especially Karl Swenson. He has a total turnaround personality, with and without a beard. Another great is Denver Pyle. He's been a victim and a murderer. Ellen Cordy couldn't make it as a car thief much longer, she moved to LA to meddle in Perry's cases. Francis Bavier played a typical Aunt Bee, who comes to town to take care of her niece, but she didn't kill him. The best Perry Mason outburst confession to me is Dabbs Greer. Quiet court room, he suddenly stands up and declares, "Yes, I killed the gas bag." Don't that just clutch ya? Harriet, the chicken thief.
