I think maybe Barney would have been a librarian--he and another fella was in charge of over 3,000 books in the PX library on Staten Island during the big one (WWII). Barney loved to read (detective novels, the Police Gazette, and books on judo, the supernatural, child rearing and poetry as well as learning new things from magazines like Learn-A-Month.) Barney would have made a great librarian with his desire to run a taught ship and his inquiring mind!
