There were several times that Andy smoked, but unless I am mistaken, there was only one time that Barney smoked a cigarette. It was in the show "Citizen's Arrest", when Barney was locked up in the jail. But here is something that trained noticers can watch for. In the episode "The Song Festers", Barney is sitting in the back of the hall all alone after Gover leaves. If you look real closely, you can see the outline of a pack of cigarettes in Barney's pocket. That is because in real life, Don Knotts smoked quite a bit.
