To Elizabeth - as Janet said, Earle Hagen was primarily responsible for the enjoyable, wonderful music on TAGS. In 1961, Capitol Records issued an album called "Songs, Themes and Laughs From The Andy Griffith Show". This album contains all of the background themes heard on the show, along with some of Andy's storytelling, and Andy singing the famous theme song. I bought the CD several years ago - really nice to listen to, as it brings back so many memories from various episodes of the show. I believe Weaver's Department Store still offers the CD online.
