Yes, Elizabeth, Earle Hagen was responsible for the music on the show. And you're right -- there were different themes for different characters, notably Barney, Aunt Bee, and Ellie. Earle was a gifted composer who wrote for many other TV series, such as "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "That Girl." He also wrote the lovely and moody song "Harlem Nocturne."
