Ken and the episode Manhunt What Ken experienced with the "bigger city" cops doesn't surprise me. Ken's experience immediately brought this to mind. The episode Manhunt, where a bunch of the (supposed bugger authority) state police come to Mayberry to look for an escape convict. They have the same attitudes that as Ken describes in the police at National Night Out. Barney and Andy are told to stay out of it, but since the state police have no idea what they are doing, because the state police don't realize they are in unfamiliar territory, Andy and Barney devise a plan to capture the convict, and it works. And much to the dismay of the state police. My father, the son of a NYC detective would often quip about how the NYC cops were cool, but the state police, up where we lived in Westchester County were in essence, clueless. According to my Dad, that's why they wasted time harassing us teens at the local parks instead of solving real crimes. And yes, my father was a big fan of the show. He even appreciated Warren.
