This morning I saw a TAGS connection while I was watching Turner Classic
Movies. They were showing the Fred Astaire movie "The Band Wagon", and in
the beginning Fred Astaire is playing a washed up actor who is going to New
York City on the train. When the train pulls into the station, Fred is
surprised to find a large mob of reporters to meet the train. He gets off the
train and thanks everyone and talks to the reporters. About that time Ava
Gardner gets off the train and the reporters rush over to her, since she is the
reason they are there in the first place.
Sound familiar? Little like "Barney Visits Mayberry"?
On another note, while listening to a broadcast of the old time radio show
"Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar" this afternoon, I heard the distinctive voice of
Howard McNear. Floyd has one of the most recognizable voices in radio, even
with a few words I can instantly place him.
