Ken, if you ever watched The Waltons, you'd know that Fanny Tatum in the town
of Rockfish has an entire network of gossipers, a cast wide enough that she can
call on anyone to plug wires (no matter their size) to other wires, big and
small, as a stand in when nature or hunger pains call. To simplify when anyone
is calling, they would naturally think they are speaking to Sarah, why set them
straight? It would only delay placing the call. However, considering she's
always either asking for advice or giving it, calls are already delayed, sooooo
what's your hurry? That's my take and I ain't taking it back.
It does boggle the mind how Andy and Barney sometimes worry about monitoring
the phone at the courthouse and sometimes it doesn't bother them a bit.
Apparently when there is an overnight guest, not as in regulars like Otis, but
like Bad Boy Bailey and women prisoners, either he or Barney has to stay
overnight. That part I understand, but they don't think a bit about stepping
out for lunch or haircut or on actually policing business to leave it not only
unattended but unlocked. Only when it's conducive to a conundrum as in when
they forget their keys and Otis has to let himself out of the cell to unlock
the front door. It's just the way the script is written for comedy without a
feather of a notion that anyone would wonder what causes that....
