Bless your heart Doug for your home haircut disasters. My baby sister at
the age of 5 was suddenly without bangs when Mama's old-fashioned
curling iron, heated on the stove, just singed them off. She was so
upset she didn't want to go to church but Mama kept telling her the Lord
didn't care if she had bangs or not. She finally went but had to be
consoled all the way there! Mama would just clean shave the boys and do
the best with us girls. I got a perm when I was 6 that looked like a
poodle for sure and it took me weeks to get over it too. Ah, the
challenges of being poor in the old days!
