Today I was reading a biography of Meredith Willson, the composer of "The
Music Man", and I found an interesting bit of trivia that I had previously been
unaware of. In 1935, Willson was hired as the musical director of the radio
show "Maxwell House's Good News", and in his position he composed the theme
song for the show. At first he only composed the music, but a few years
later he added words. Then in 1941, Glenn Miller's orchestra recorded the
song which went to #1 on the charts. Let's have a little fun, and see if
anyone knows the name of this song. (Hint) Since this is the TAGS site,
naturally the song was performed on the show, almost in its' entirety by 5
people. Name that song!! Orville Hendricks - Mount Pilot Butter and Egg Man.
Whenever I sing "The Old Grey Mare", Martha tells me to hush.
