I believe it was Johnny Paul Jason who told Opie that a penny run over by a train was good luck..Wanting to see if the kid knew what he was talking about and a train track only about 100 feet from my house I put three pennies on the track and waited for the train to pass..Afterwards I went to collect the remains. I could only find two of the pennies but they didn't resemble anything like I put on the track..They are now copper looking ovals with not a trace of a penny to be seen..next I thing I'll lay a half dozen side by side and see if the train will weld them together...Why by an expensive copper bracelet if I can make one this way.
