Something that has always seem strange to me is the lack of Taylor relatives in Mayberry. Andy has lived in Mayberry his entire life, that we know of, except for his military service, yet there has never been any mention of Mayberry kin other than the several early references to Barney being his cousin. Back in the sixties many small town families were very close knit and relatives were a very important part of the family dynamics. Andy is young enough that Opie's grandparents certainly could still be living. Also I have often thought that Opie's mom probably was a Mayberry girl seeing Andy lived in Mayberry all his life. Where were his maternal grandparents and cousins from that side of the family? So many great episodes could have been written including the grandparents and other relatives. Look how great the Family Visit episode was. As far as I remember the only reference to grandparents was to great granddaddy Seth. We did have Cousin Bradford come for a visit too but that was about it. Just wondered if any of you good folks may have any thoughts about where all these relatives might be.
