Janet & Susan,

Huckleberries are a wild berry, blueberries are a cultivated species of
berries.The taste is similiar.When
I was a child, huckleberries were a food staple in our home, hence they were free
and plentiful for the
picking. On the downside, you were attacked by a gazillion red bugs. For those who
aren't familiar,red
bugs are microscopic size insects from hades! They make you itch something
fierce.It was a family
affair when it came to "huckleberring".

My mother would cook them with milk and sugar added to the pot. They would then
be poured on a
hot buttermilk biscuit.OOOHHHWEE,it don't get no better than that.

Some uppity, politically correct folks might call it a bilberry, but in my neck
of the woods they are
huckleberries.

but it does make the ride worthwhile.
