There was quite a bit of sport made on TAGS about Aunt Bea's age. On the
episode about her birthday, she forgot how old she actually was, and then she
fibbed about her age.
But she was not the worst culprit concerning lying about age, Goober was.
In the Computer Dating episode from 1968, when Goober was filling out the
questionaire, he says he is 33, which would have made him born in 1935. When
Goober buys Wally's in 1967, he tells Opie he is 36, which would have made him
born in 1931. Finally, in the Punch In The Nose Episode, Goober tells Barney
that in 1947 he was 6 years old, which would have made him born in 1941. Just
for the record, I can tell you, from reading George Lindsey's autobiography,
"Goober In A Nutshell", that he was born December 1935. Which means ole Goober
recently celebrated his diamond anniversary.
Orville Hendricks - Peddling Butter And Eggs. No matter how old I get, I
always tell Martha that I do not mind celebrating another birthday. Sure beats
the alternative.
