Kim i read your message yesterday that you bet a dollar to a donut that no
one ever used the H word in the early 60's on television. If thats what I
read, let this historian tell you the H word was used in the 50's and ill
illustrate that right now. Sorry folks, the following is non Mayberry news
a no no here but seeing Kim brought up the H word for television from early
60's i have speak up. In 1959 on the tv show Whats My Line , Groucho Marx a
panalist guest sang an old song to the joy of the audience and he uttered
the H word loud and clear . Also in 1957 Playhouse 90 had a episode entitled
The Comedian. with Mickey Rooney and the actor Edmund 0'Brien clearly said
in one line, he's been thru H. Thats just 2 examples of im sure are many,
done live on tv in one form or another. By the way I have video tapes here
at home of both tv versions, the words in tact. The H word was used more
extensively than people think , in the 50's let alone early 1960's. We
should be concerned with the far more vulgar words that upset me these days.
God bless you Kim and all of you out there. Tom Kessel Col.Tim's protege
reject.
