Tom asked about a background actor in TAGS, and from his description, I think I know which one he's talking about. In "Off to Hollywood," he is in the crowd of men who want to see the check. He's wearing a light gray-blue jacket. If this is the fellow Tom's referring to, I have noticed him in several episodes. If you want to get a real good look at him, watch the scene in "The Bank Job" where Barney thinks Mr. Meldrim is a thief trying to break into the bank and attempts to arrest him. A crowd gathers to laugh and make fun of Barney, and in the foreground is a man and woman together, as though a couple. The man is short and older with gray, slightly wavy hair and a Fred Mertz-type belly (and wears his pants high like Fred, too). He has a somewhat prominent nose. The woman in this scene has short, dark, straight hair.
Margaret mentions a scene where this man jumps to get out of the way of a car. I know the scene but can't yet remember which episode it's in. I've fast-forwarded through several episodes but have yet to find it. I'll keep looking, though, because it's going to bug me if I don't find out! I did also watch "Barney's Sidecar," and that scene isn't in that episode. However, this particular background actor does feature rather prominently in it (as much as is possible for an extra, anyway!). We see him four different times. The first time, he is standing on a corner laughing at Barney as he goes past on his motorcycle. The second time is when the crowd of loafing men are gathered around the courthouse after detaching the sidecar. While Andy is preparing to sit in the sidecar, this man is in the background, partially behind one of the pillars. We see him the third time while Barney is going around marking cars. The man wears a disgusted look as he finds a ticket on his windshield. The last time, he is with the crowd of men in the courthouse complaining about Barney and his motorcycle. The man is on the right. This background actor is one I don't recall discussing before on the digest, but he does appear in a number of episodes.
